Club Activities "THE JUNIOR GOLDEN WEST"
A Fun & Learning Day with the Rotaractors

Fun . If one word were to capture the overall sentiment that Sunday afternoon, no other word would come close.

Last 31 August 2003, the Rotaract Club of Marikina West, headed by President Jun Labrador, trooped all the way to the heart of Manila to spend an afternoon with the children of Hospicio De San Jose. Under the guidance of Rotary Club Past President Rollie Fantone and his wife Cora THANK YOU PO! Tito Rollie & Tita Cora , the Rotaractors prepared an activity-filled afternoon for the children to enjoy.

Kicking off activities was a short prayer led by Treasurer Anne Duhan, which was immediately followed by the Opening Remarks, delivered by President Jun Labrador. To make sure all the kids were wide awake and hyped up, Vice President Michelle Duhan and IPP. Zsa-Zsa Africa led the group of 30 young boys and girls in singing action songs which definitely lit up the atmosphere in the social hall. Keeping the energy level high, several games followed with the kids winning prizes ranging from chocolates to different types of toys. The kids were later mesmerized with the enchanting tales read by Rtr. Ronnie Fantone and Rtr. Jericho Barcelon. More games ensued as the hosts Adviser Claire Fantone and Dir. Joy Belarmino continued to keep the mostly 9 year-olds entertained. The other Rotaractors present, Secretary Apple Angeles, Tom Castello, RJ Fantone and Mickhoel Alvaran , encouraged all the children to take part in all the activities. Capping off the entire afternoon s activities, the kids were treated to a generous serving of what could be the all-time favorite snack spaghetti!

It was truly an afternoon to remember. The children were definitely treated to a great afternoon of majestic tales, exciting games and great-tasting food. Making the afternoon extra special though was that, for even just one day, the children and the Rotaractors enjoyed each other s company. Just being there with the kids made the activity very fulfilling. Seeing their smiles made the trip to Manila all the more worthwhile.

30 children. 30 different smiles. All these sum up to one word fun .
