Ever since TVB cast Nnadia as Fung Ching Ching in Once Upon A Time In
Shanghai, many people have made comparisons between her and Chiu Nga Gi
[the actress who played Fung Ching Ching in the 1982 The Bund]. Most of
their opinions have been negative rather than positive, saying that old is
better than new. How does Nnadia feel about this? Reporter: What do you feel about it? Nnadia: I will accept all the criticism. In the past, I would be unhappy about it as I work hard on every job of mine. So why does it attract these kinds of criticism? I haven't done them any wrong, and I can say confidently that I'm a responsible artist, responsible enough that I would give myself 95 points. I would feel unhappy. But now I will think that good or bad, it's a kind of voice. That can help me to make changes. It's a good thing for me because I will seek to improve my work. This is because I have grown up and I cannot always be protected like child anymore. Choosing a Simple Road Reporter: You have always given people the impression of a pure and good girl. However, there are also some who say that you're just pretending to be good. What do you feel about this? Nnadia: If I am pretending, I really should be awarded a prize because I would've been pretending for so many years. But actually, I don't think I am a good girl. It is just that I have chosen to take simple and healthy road. Maybe because this is different from most others. Like the environment in which us artists work - we usually leave work at midnight. Everyone will meet up with people and go drink and play. But I will choose to go home. I wasn't born as a good girl. I have some background that you guys won't understand and I don't think it's necessary to publish it for everyone to know. In one word, the image I have chosen is simple. Whether or not you believe me, if you are my friend or if you are around me in my life, you will understand that it has nothing to do with my image. It is me being myself at every minute, every second. I sometimes feel others people's description of me are very interesting. You are pure; you are naive. But I am not a kid! A kid is just like a blank piece of paper - you can describe a kid as good and innocent and naïve. But I'm not a blank piece of paper. I've been painted with colors. The colors I choose are not as colorful as others. It won't be too red, or too yellow, or black. I would choose pink, baby blue. Many people may not believe it. As I am too stubborn on this, other people will think I am strange. Reporter: You have already joined this entertainment business for nearly ten years, but it's very seldom to hear rumors about you or that you're in a relationship. Is it that you don't have a boyfriend or is that we don't know? Love Life is Blank Nnadia: Ha ha…! I think in this world, paper can't cover up fire. In Hong Kong society, it is impossible that no one would find out if I have a boyfriend. So I can say loudly that my love life is blank. I really don't know why I cannot find anyone that I like. I do want to find someone. But I won't hurry these kinds of things because it's not like work where I can arrange it. So there is a bit of uncontrollability. Reporter: Since you do want to find a better half, if you meet one that you like, would you express your love to him? Nnadia: It's really hard to say! Ha...! If I do find him, I would! Reporter: How would you express yourself? Nnadia: That I don't know! I only know that I would be the one to take the initiative! Reporter: What are your requirements for your boyfriend? Nnadia: He must have a kind heart. I think when I look at someone, I would consider their inner personality first. If their inner personality is kindhearted, I wouldn't care how he looks or what his social status is. Dating is a Luxury Reporter: Isn't it time consuming to get to know his inner personality? Nnadia: I'm pretty good and fast at looking inside for someone's personality. So I won't worry about how much time is spent. Instead it's more difficult to keep the relationship good and long. The feeling when the relationship is just starting must be very good, but this period is very short. Afterwards, it becomes hard to keep the keep the relationship going. Reporter: You haven't tried dating, but have you ever had a puppy love? Nnadia: Yes! When I was in 5th, 6th grade, there was a male classmate whose hair had an egg tart style [Vonny: I think meaning like a bowl haircut, but I'm not sure!] and was shiny. His hair would bounce around when he was walking. At that time, my hair was long and I thought that was a good match. Ha…! But now that I'm older, I don't really like egg tart hair because it's too dorky and old-fashioned. Now I like a more casual one. Because when I started working, I was still working and studying, so I didn't have any extra time for dating. Dating is a luxury and you have to have enough time for it to be comfortable and enjoyable without taking up too much energy. Marriage but No Children Reporter: If you find someone now, would you refuse him? Nnadia: I think I have one-tenth ability to refuse him because I'm afraid it's just too hard to meet someone…! Reporter: Do you have any longings for a future family, such as how many children you would have? Nnadia: I really hope my future partner can accept my thinking. I wouldn't have children because I find there are so many orphans in the world especially Hong Kong. A lot of people don't want their children and I would rather adopt them even if they are a different skin color. Ideally, I would adopt seven because when I was little, I always watched "Seven Little Lucky" [Vonny: That I believe is the martial arts troupe that consisted of Jacky Chan Sing Lung, Sammo Hung Gum Bo, and their five other god-brothers.] and seven kids seems lucky to me. If I have the ability to, I would adopt all seven. So when picking a future partner, it's the most important to communicate our thoughts and ideas, other things are not as important.
