(from top): West Kennett, Wiltshire, July 2004. It has to be said that the spirals in this aren't as neat as the 'square spiral' made in the field next door a week or two later by Lundberg / Dickinson etc for a National Geographic documentary, though you won't hear many croppies concede that. Photograph courtesy of Peter Sorensen. Hackpen Hill, Wiltshire, July 1999. This picture also appears elsewhere on this site, but we like the shot - and circle - so much we thought we'd use it again. Photograph courtesy of Peter Sorensen. Etchilhampton, Wiltshire, 28th July 2002. Once upon a time people got excited about little formations like this, now they just yawn and think 'where's the next 200+ circles fix?' which is a shame (and don't even get us started on the bad PR valeries get these days). We like this formation, anyway. It's pretty. Look closely at the satellites; they're all swirled differently. Photograph - and, probably, formation - courtesy of Peter Sorensen. |
There are many, many websites concerning crop circles. Some
good, some bad, some indifferent. Here are a few of the better
or more interesting ones, or just pages we happen to like (the order
being alphabetical and not by favour). If you come across a dead
link, or if you want your site to appear here and are prepared to link
to us in return, email us.
Allan Brown: Patterns of ConsciousnessAllan Brown is known mainly as a geometer. His site only features one article, which is a shame since it's extensive and well-argued. The kind of research we like to see; we just wish he'd do more of it. BLT Research Site detailing the investigations of the John Burke, William Levengood, & Nancy Talbot (BLT) research team. The Cereologist Formerly the homepage for Global Circles Research and John Sayer, now the online repository of The Cereologist (which, along with SC, wins our vote for best circles-related periodical). Circle Vault This site seems to be doing what Total Human Solution intended before it folded: circlemakers anonymously post encrypted files of designs they've done and at the end of the season can choose to de-encrypt them, allowing people to see known man-made designs without the identities of the perpetrators being revealed. An admirable motive but flawed; most circlemakers we know of don't want their designs to be identified as man-made at any point, since any mystery surrounding those formations is immediately killed. The Circlemakers Subject of much vitriol amongst croppies, and for that reason alone worth a visit. Posits that all crop circles are man-made, some by the creators of this site.
The Crop Circle ConnectorProbably the most famous and most visited crop circle site on the net. Good points: excellent for news and aerial shots of the latest circles. Bad points: some overloaded pages that choke your browser, and you have to pay for anything other than the current year. Crop Circle Geometry Err... Crop circles and geometry. Nick Kollerstrom's page. Crop Circle Research Paul Vigay's site. Recommended. Crop Circle Secrets 'The world's premier crop circles research site', apparently. There's a lot of curious stuff on this site, the majority of it written by site host Freddy Silva, author of Secrets In the Fields and a man who is almost as arrogant about the subject as we are. Crop Circles UK Myspace page dedicated to UK crop circles. If you've got a myspace page, send them a friend request. Jonah Ohayv This page features articles in English from Jonah's Crop Circles Corner site. Lucy Pringle Does a good line in photos (and mugs and pens and all sorts of other circles-related tat to clutter your life with), including shots of the very latest formations as and when they appear in the fields. Martin Keitel An excellent site, with some very sober analysis. Recommended.
Mount BaldySimeon Hein's site, featuring - amongst other things - documentation of anomalies found in commissioned and known man-made circles. Peter Sorensen Technically part of the Crop Circle Connector, but we like Peter and we like his pictures (many shots on Crop Circle Nirvana are his) so thought we'd give him a separate listing. Includes articles, the infamous 'Rogue's Gallery Of Croppies', and truckloads of aerial and ground shots. Richard Bird A selection of short articles on different aspects of crop circles. We wish that Richard would arrange them in chronological order, though, since a certain shift in stance is noticable in the more recent articles and the process makes for very interesting reading. Swirled News Run by the team that produced the SC journal. Like SC the site is edited by Andy Thomas, author of Vital Signs amongst other books. More of a 'news and comment' than a 'most recent formations' site (a bit like us), and worth bookmarking. Temporary Temples Steve Alexander & Karen Douglas' page. Lots and lots of crop circle photos, some articles. UK Crop Circles "Bringing crop circles down to earth. Reports, images and much more on this amazing phenomena." We like this site. It features some of the best field reports we've seen for a good while. Unique Fragments Concerning alignments between formations and alignments between formations and the landscape. Interesting stuff. |
